LIMITING PLASTIC
We’re limiting our use of single use plastics and try to use either no plastic or compostable plastic where we can.
We also encourage our customers to buy in bulk rather than the kilo. This reduces packaging and the use of plastics significantly.

FOOD WASTE
Did you know that food waste usually goes to landfill where it builds up and over time releases a toxic gas called Methane? This gas is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide and is attributing to climate change. So we thought to ourselves, how can we do things differently? We engaged with JJ’s Waste and Recycling and purchased an Organic Food Waste Bin. Our food waste is disposed of in this bin. Then, it’s taken to a company called Pheonix Power who transform this waste into organic fertiliser, which is then used in gardens and put back into the earth.

We reuse our cardboard boxes as much as we can until they’re recycled through a company called Visy. We also send our Polystyrene boxes to Polystrene Recycling Queensland where it goes through various processes so it can be completely recycled. Ultimately, it is best to avoid this product all together and educating farmers and other suppliers with alternative products is something we’re passionate about. Additionally, we’ve given our customers the option to receive their produce in re-usable crates, which we pick up on the next delivery run and continue to use again and again. If you’re a customer who would like this type of service, please talk to your local Account Manager.
