HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

 

Continental & Lebanese Cucumbers, Cos Lettue, Iceberg Lettuce

R2E2 Mangoes, Long watermelon, Lychee, Cherries

GOOD NEWS:

Limes: Are in very good supply – all from local growers in South East Queensland

Mangoes: Fantastic quality R2E2 mangoes are in stock from North Queensland, they have a firm juicy flesh and are full of flavour.

Kale: Green kale and Tuscan cabbage are both looking good, grown locally in the Lockyer Valley.

Cucumbers: Continental and Lebanese cucumbers are well supplied, prices are low and the fruit is firm and crispy. Definitely a top pick for the week.

Aussie Grapes: Red and White grapes have begun in earnest from Emerald. Quality is very good for early season fruit. Available and in stock now!

Cherries: Large firm fruit with good colour is now available – prices are still up for the very best, but it is looking like a good season and there will be plenty of good fruit for Christmas.

Cauliflower: Really good quality cauli are in stock and prices are coming back this week.

Lychee: It is looking like a very good Lychee season so far – large, juicy fruit is in stock from North Queensland.

Wombok: Quality is improving and the price is coming back slowly.

Asian Veg: There is good supply of most Asian veg lines this week – pak choi and choi sum are looking particularly good.

Heirloom toms: We have super mixed heirloom toms coming from Byron this week – colour and eating quality are exceptional. Medley mix and Kumato are also available.

Watercress: Quality and supply are continuing to improve.

 

STILL GOOD NEWS:

Australian Asparagus The season is in full swing from Koo Wee Rup, prices are steady and we have fresh stock coming in most days. Limited amounts of Purple asparagus are still coming in as well.

Beetroot: Large beets from the Lockyer valley are in good supply.

Onions: Queensland onions are now in stock from the Darling Downs.

Oyster Mushrooms: Sold by the kg, we have growers in Noosa and Northern NSW, they are in a flush at the moment and have plenty of great quality oyster mushies coming through.

Stone fruit: Yellow flesh peaches and white flesh nectarines are the pick of what is available. Apricots have just started and we are seeing the first plums come through as well.

NOT SO GOOD NEWS:

Avocados: Hass avocados are up in price, Queensland / NSW season is finished and we are into Western Australian. Prices will continue to rise through the summer due to high demand until new season Queensland fruit starts in February. Bulk avos are a cheaper option – please call to ask for a price.

Celeriac: Rain has caused large crop losses – time to take celeriac off the menu as the season has finished early.

Ginger: Price remains extremely high. We have juicing grade ginger available and in stock to save you $$

Washed Potatoes: Potato prices are up and down like a yoyo! Storms are making it hard for local growers to dig and the South Australian season has been slow to start.

Figs: Only hot house figs are available and supply is limited – the price is high– avoid if possible.

Watermelon Radish: Is extremely limited again, only dribs and drabs coming through.

Carambola: Not available – out of season

Seedless Watermelon: Price is very high this week – longs are a much better option.

Royal Blue & Purple Congo: Growers are in a gap until after Christmas – we suggest using Desiree instead of royal blue and red foo as a sub for purple congo.
